Luther Area Public Library

About Us

  • About the Library

The Luther Area Public Library is in beautiful downtown Luther, MI. Established in 1979, the library’s first home was a one-room building that would later burn down. With help from the community, the library was relocated to the Luther Senior building, where it remained until it was relocated to its new home at 115 State St. Today, the LAPL is a district library and serves all Lake County residents.

    Mission Statement

The Luther Area Public Library recognizes the role of being the information resource center of the community and that these resources encompass a broad range of materials including: print, non-print, and electronic media. Therefore, it is our mission to respond to and develop an understanding of the needs of the people we serve by providing these materials and to preserve the necessary collections and services to meet future opportunities for development.  As a District Library, we service the townships of Dover, Eden, Elk, Ellsworth, Newkirk, Peacock, Sauble and the Village of Luther.

    Vision Statement

The Luther Area Public Library will be a cornerstone in our community, connecting people to resources and each other. We will be committed to providing equal access to information, promoting life-long learning, and encouraging the arts with programming for everyone!
